Franconia also trains newcomers to the film business. The universities in Erlangen-Nürnberg offer film courses at three institutions.
At the Georg-Simon-Ohm-Hochschule in Nuremberg, students on the bachelor’s course in design may choose the medium of film & animation. The ARD.ZDF Medienakademie is also located in Nuremberg, right next to the Franconian Studio of Bayerischer Rundfunk (Bavarian Broadcasting Company). The Institute for Theatre and Media Studies of the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg is located in Erlangen.
