In the course of this, City of Nuremberg personnel learn about the City’s varied human rights activities. The seminar looks at the human rights relevance of administrative actions and what active implementation of human rights can look like. “Against National Socialism: Human Rights“
The crimes of National Socialism led to world-wide horror. In 1948, the “Universal Declaration of Human Rights” for the first time established a moral, political and legal basis for state actions. From now on, governments were never to treat their citizens arbitrarily. The questions of how far the hopes of this era have been fulfilled and what importance human rights have for contemporary politics are discussed.
From the Nuremberg Trials to the International Criminal Court
The International Military Tribunal of the main war criminals in Nuremberg and the “Nuremberg Principles” form the starting point for this seminar. The legal and political foundations of this “trial of the century” will be introduced and compared to the newly established International Criminal Court in The Hague.
Seminars on these two topics may be booked by school classes from the 9th form, vocational school classes, secondary school classes at the qualification stage, in-service training groups from the army, the police and other interested professions.
