Programme of the 2015 Peace Table
The Nuremberg Peace Table is a celebration of the solidarity of Nuremberg citizens with their award winner. While joining the table and eating, there will be occasions for talking with Amirul Haque Amin, members of the international jury and many of those who are committed to the struggle for human rights.
The 2015 Peace Table takes place on the 29th of September from Hallplatz and Kornmarkt to the Dr. Kurt Schumacher Straße and along the Way of Human Rights. You'll find the detailed programme below.
1 p.m.: Kick-off
A loud kick-off with NORISAMBA of Nuremberg Music School. They play Brazilian percussion instruments and mix Samba Batucada rhythms with Reggae and Calypso. Conductor: Axel Dinkelmeyer
2 p.m. to 4 p.m.: Cultural Programme along the table
Three bands and a choir will perform on various stages around the Kornmarkt. The Ensemble Egschiglen from Mongolia will present overtone singing with horsehead fiddle and swan-necked lute. The duo Koray und Buluş Basmalı created meditative sitar sounds merging with European music.
From Cuba via New York to the Black Sea: The global shtetl band unites traditions. Its musical scope reaches from Yiddish songs via long-lost texts to today’s song-writing. The Stadtstimmen Nürnberg stand for an expression of openness and a cosmopolitan view. In addition to one of the human rights transformed into a choir song, there will be rocky, classical and thought-provoking songs.
2 p.m. to 3 p.m.: Discussions with international guests
At the “discussion table” on Kornmarkt, the award winner and human rights experts will be happy to talk to guests of the Peace Table.
3.30 p.m.: Signal for balloon start
Balloons and a greeting card will be sold for 1 Euro along the table. The proceeds will go to one of the award winner’s projects. Additional donations for this project will be gratefully received.
