Rodrigo Mundaca received much applause and personal congratulations as he walked along the 220 tables of the Peace Table together with mayor Dr. Ulrich Maly. There was also an opportunity to talk to the award winner, jury members and many people who are actively involved in human rights.
This year, all 4,500 guests at the Peace Table were invited to a joint musical finale. At 3.30 pm, the visitors clinked their glasses or glass bottles for a minute, just like a toast. The choir of the Nuremberg Children's and Youth Choir then made its way along the rows of tables, singing the song "Die Gedanken sind frei". The surrounding tables joined in the chorus in honor of all human rights award winners.
Following the peace panel, Rodrigo Mundaca and Prof. Dr. Hilal Elver, UN Special Rapporteur on the Right to Food, discussed the current water situation in Chile and the UN's efforts to enforce the human right to water under the title "They are letting us dry up!" in the Caritas Pirckheimer House. The discussion was moderated by Marie von Schlieben from Weltfriedensdienst e.V.
