ZAQ - Central Service Centre for the Recognition of Foreign Qualifications in the Nuremberg Metropolitan Region
Since June 2012, ZAQ+ at the City of Nuremberg's Education Campus has been the point of contact for all migrants in Middle, Upper and Lower Franconia who would like advice on the recognition of their professional qualifications. The ZAQ+ Advice Centre is part of the nationwide funding programme ‘Integration through Qualification’ (IQ).
As part of the Bavaria-wide FIBA+ network, the Nuremberg Integration Council and AAU e. V. in Nuremberg work closely together to improve career opportunities for refugees. FIBA+ advises, supports, qualifies and helps in the search for secure employment, an apprenticeship or a degree programme.
The Anti-Discrimination Agency provides advice and support to people who have experienced or witnessed discrimination. Educating people about their rights, providing advice and changing structures is the mission of the Anti-Discrimination Agency, as experiences of discrimination not only shake confidence in the rule of law, but also damage social cohesion as a whole.
The Education Office was founded in 2008 as a staff unit of the Lord Mayor's Office and is responsible for the City of Nuremberg's education reporting, the conception and organisation of education conferences and the management of the Education Advisory Board.
Since 2006, the SCHLAU (School, Learning, Training) programme has been preparing pupils for the transition from school to work and providing them with educational support. It offers a comprehensive programme for general and vocational schools in Nuremberg.
The Inter- Cultural Office (IKB) works with and supports intercultural associations and cultural organisers. The IKB is also the point of contact for associations, departments and other institutions in the field of interculture and awards grants for the rental of club rooms and cultural events.
There are 12 Cultural Shops in Nuremberg, each in a different neighbourhood. They are traditionally important places for intercultural work in the city, especially in neighbourhoods with a high proportion of people with a migration background. In the Culture Shops, people can experience concerts, music jams, readings as well as workshops on various topics, groups and courses, theatre plays or clothes swaps. There is counselling as well as discourse.
